The Last Generation
The Abomination that Maketh Desolate
Daniel 12:11,12
11And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
12Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
The backdrop for the study of the Last generation begins with the chastisement of Israel since they walked contrary to God’s will According to Amos 9:9 ...will sift the house of Israel among all nations… and also (Levi 26:27-28… I, will chastise you seven times for your sins… (7x360=2520days = 2520years)) see Ezekiel 4:5-6. This began with the capture of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar in 606 B.C and ended in 1914 in the first World War.
Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
The time of Israel deliverance would have been a time of much trouble, the world war in 1914 fulfilled this prophetic word perfectly when the Jews began to return to their own land which ends the period of punishment (7x) which God had promised.
Daniel 12:11
In this verse Daniel is given another prophetic time line which begins during Israel's chastisement and this timeline has a length of 1290days and begins with TWO definite elements to mark its starting point (1) the Removal of the daily sacrifice and (2) The setting up of the abomination that maketh desolate.
Hebrews 10:3,11
According to Hebrews the daily sacrifice is the sacrifice which were made by the priest for the remission of sins on behalf of the people. Now since the Jews did not accept Jesus as the Lamb of God they continued to offer animal sacrifices until it was taken away by the Roman General Titus for the second time. The first time took place in 167-164 B.C by Antiochus Epiphanes. The third and last time was by the mohammedians or Turks & Arabs who took possession of Jerusalem in 632A.D. Now this is the first event that was to take place according to Daniel 12:11. Lets take a look at the abomination that maketh desolate. Jesus refrred to this same event in Matt24:15,16. Now lets note the key phrase in Verse 15:...The abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet STAND IN THE HOLY PLACE…. Also note Mark 13:14 how this same event to take place was stated verse 14:...the abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel the Prophet standing where it ought not. Also Daniel 12:11 says that the abomination which maketh desolate will be set up. History shows that when the mohammaedians took over Jerusalem they did set up a structure on the holy mountain where the Jewish temple once stood. In fact this structure called the Dome of the Rock covers what is called the Foundation Stone which is claimed to be by some Jews the spot of the Holy of Holies of the Jewish temple. So basically, this structure fulfilled what chist said in Matthew that the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION WILL STAND IN THE HOLY PLACE . Now this Dome of The Rock was completed in 691A.D. That was when both events in Daniel 12:11 was completed.
Lets do some maths.
1290days (years) after 691AD Brings us to 1290+691=1981. The Year 1981
1335 days
Daniel goes on in verse 12 to give us another time period as an extension from the 1290 days. He said blessed is he that waiteth to 1335 day which is an additional 45 days (years) This waiting time is just 45 years further which takes us from 1981 to 2026. This goes into the Kingdom but does not give the date of Christ coming because of what Jesus said in Matthew 24:22. Notice that during this same discourse and just after talking about the abomination that maketh desolate, therefore it is these days that Jesus refers to, this is the Last Generation we are in now. Jesus further says of his coming during the waiting time or the Generation in Luke 21:29-32 that this generation shall not pass away until all be fulfilled. In saying this Jesus was referring to the events previously stated between verse 20-24 which speaks of the destruction of Jerusalem and verse 25-28 which speaks of the sign of the times before Chirst returns.
Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; when they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is night at hand. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away till all be fulfilled, Luke 21:29-32.
"Note: In the verses preceding these quoted above, Jesus mentions Jerusalem being trodden down by the Gentiles with the Jews scattered among all nations UNTIL the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. Then He speaks of distress of nations, with perplexity, and men's hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth. Then He compares these things to the leaves on the trees which show summer to be near at hand. When we see the leaves on the trees, He says we know of our own selves that summer is nigh at hand. "LIKEWISE YE, WHEN YE SEE THESE THINGS COME TO PASS, KNOW YE THAT THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NIGH AT HAND." Also that the generation living then would not pass away until ALL was fulfilled.
11 How many years is a generation according to the scriptures?
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
Note:
Here we have three periods of fourteen generations each, from Abraham to Christ, and this includes 1900 years. See dates given at the top of your Bible (most Bibles have them) in Genesis 18th chapter. It was also at this time when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by fire, which were set forth as examples of those that would afterwards live ungodly. Jude 1:7 and II Peter 2:6. Anciently, fire was put on a tall watchtower as a signal of approaching danger, Jeremiah 6:1.
Dividing 1900 years by the forty-two generations from Abraham to Christ, we have approximately forty-five years to a generation. This is the exact period of the waiting time in Daniel 12:12, as previously set forth in the 1290 and 1335 year periods.
Consequently, before this generation comes to its close Jesus will appear in the clouds of heaven in majestic power and glory, as He has promised. He said this generation would not pass away until all was fulfilled, therefore, we will not reach the end of it until the kingdom is here. Those days are to be shortened for the elect's sake.
Dear reader, we must use our life now for God, or it will be too late. We must put our means into the closing message of world-wide warning of the pending judgment. "Prepare to meet thy God, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Bible Home Instructor
In conclusion let us answer the key question. What is a generation according to scripture? In Matthew 1:17 we have 3 time periods of 14 generations starting from Abraham to Christ. This give us 42 generations altogether. This period covers 1900 years. Lets do some maths. If we divide 1900 years by 42 we get approximately 45 years to a generation which is the exact period of waiting time in Daniel 12:12. One Generation, This Generation.
