The Last Generation: The Abomination that Maketh Desolate

The Last Generation
The Abomination that Maketh Desolate

Daniel 12:11,12

11And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
The backdrop for the study of the Last generation begins with the chastisement of Israel since they walked contrary to God’s will According to Amos 9:9 ...will sift the house of Israel among all nations… and also (Levi 26:27-28… I, will chastise you seven times for your sins… (7x360=2520days = 2520years)) see Ezekiel 4:5-6. This began with the capture of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar in 606 B.C and ended in 1914 in the first World War.

Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

The time of Israel deliverance would have been a time of much trouble, the world war in 1914 fulfilled this prophetic word perfectly when the Jews began to return to their own land which ends the period of punishment (7x) which God had promised.

Daniel 12:11

In this verse Daniel is given another prophetic time line which begins during Israel's chastisement and this timeline has a length of 1290days and begins with TWO definite elements to mark its starting point (1) the Removal of the daily sacrifice and (2) The setting up of the abomination that maketh desolate.

Hebrews 10:3,11

According to Hebrews the daily sacrifice is the sacrifice which were made by the priest for the remission of sins on behalf of the people. Now since the Jews did not accept Jesus as the Lamb of God they continued to offer animal sacrifices until it was taken away by the Roman General Titus for the second time. The first time took place in 167-164 B.C by Antiochus Epiphanes. The third and last time was by the mohammedians or Turks & Arabs who took possession of Jerusalem in 632A.D. Now this is the first event that was to take place according to Daniel 12:11. Lets take a look at the abomination that maketh desolate. Jesus refrred to this same event in Matt24:15,16. Now lets note the key phrase in Verse 15:...The abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet STAND IN THE HOLY PLACE…. Also note Mark 13:14 how this same event to take place was stated verse 14:...the abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel the Prophet standing where it ought not. Also Daniel 12:11 says that the abomination which maketh desolate will be set up. History shows that when the mohammaedians took over Jerusalem they did set up a structure on the holy mountain where the Jewish temple once stood. In fact this structure called the Dome of the Rock covers what is called the Foundation Stone which is claimed to be by some Jews the spot of the Holy of Holies of the Jewish temple. So basically, this structure fulfilled what chist said in Matthew that the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION WILL STAND IN THE HOLY PLACE . Now this Dome of The Rock was completed in 691A.D. That was when both events in Daniel 12:11 was completed.

Lets do some maths.

1290days (years) after 691AD Brings us to 1290+691=1981. The Year 1981

1335 days

Daniel goes on in verse 12 to give us another time period as an extension from the 1290 days. He said blessed is he that waiteth to 1335 day which is an additional 45 days (years) This waiting time is just 45 years further which takes us from 1981 to 2026. This goes into the Kingdom but does not give the date of Christ coming because of what Jesus said in Matthew 24:22. Notice that during this same discourse and just after talking about the abomination that maketh desolate, therefore it is these days that Jesus refers to, this is the Last Generation we are in now. Jesus further says of his coming during the waiting time or the Generation in Luke 21:29-32 that this generation shall not pass away until all be fulfilled. In saying this Jesus was referring to the events previously stated between verse 20-24 which speaks of the destruction of Jerusalem and verse 25-28 which speaks of the sign of the times before Chirst returns.

Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; when they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is night at hand. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away till all be fulfilled, Luke 21:29-32.

"Note:  In the verses preceding these quoted above, Jesus mentions Jerusalem being trodden down by the Gentiles with the Jews scattered among all nations UNTIL the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. Then He speaks of distress of nations, with perplexity, and men's hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth. Then He compares these things to the leaves on the trees which show summer to be near at hand. When we see the leaves on the trees, He says we know of our own selves that summer is nigh at hand. "LIKEWISE YE, WHEN YE SEE THESE THINGS COME TO PASS, KNOW YE THAT THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NIGH AT HAND." Also that the generation living then would not pass away until ALL was fulfilled.

11 How many years is a generation according to the scriptures?
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

Note:
Here we have three periods of fourteen generations each, from Abraham to Christ, and this includes 1900 years. See dates given at the top of your Bible (most Bibles have them) in Genesis 18th chapter. It was also at this time when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by fire, which were set forth as examples of those that would afterwards live ungodly. Jude 1:7 and II Peter 2:6. Anciently, fire was put on a tall watchtower as a signal of approaching danger, Jeremiah 6:1.
Dividing 1900 years by the forty-two generations from Abraham to Christ, we have approximately forty-five years to a generation. This is the exact period of the waiting time in Daniel 12:12, as previously set forth in the 1290 and 1335 year periods.
Consequently, before this generation comes to its close Jesus will appear in the clouds of heaven in majestic power and glory, as He has promised. He said this generation would not pass away until all was fulfilled, therefore, we will not reach the end of it until the kingdom is here. Those days are to be shortened for the elect's sake.
Dear reader, we must use our life now for God, or it will be too late. We must put our means into the closing message of world-wide warning of the pending judgment. "Prepare to meet thy God, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."  Bible Home Instructor

In conclusion let us answer the key question. What is a generation according to scripture? In Matthew 1:17 we have 3 time periods of 14 generations starting from Abraham to Christ. This give us 42 generations altogether. This period covers 1900 years. Lets do some maths. If we divide 1900 years by 42 we get approximately 45 years to a generation which is the exact period of waiting time in Daniel 12:12. One Generation, This Generation.

The Battle of Armageddon

The Battle of Armageddon
1 What did Jesus say of the conditions that would prevail on the earth after His ascension?
And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet, Matthew 24:6.

2 What did He say further about war?
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in divers places, Matthew 24:7.

3 At the end of the present dispensation and just before Jesus is seen coming in the clouds of heaven, will there be peace on earth or distress of nations?
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity: the sea and the waves roaring. Men's hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory, Luke 21:25-27.

4 From the last testimony of Jesus 96 A.D., what does He say of the earthly powers just before the time comes for the dead to be resurrected, and the prophets to be rewarded?
And the nations were angry, and Thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto Thy servants the prophets, and to the saints . . . and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth, Revelation 11:18.

5 As the above evidence from the witnesses of God who have spoken upon this subject all agree that the coming of Christ, and the end of this age will be at a time of war, when the nations are angry, what is further said of the name and location of the last battle?
And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth, and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. Behold, I come as a thief, blessed is he that watcheth . . . . And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon, Revelation 16:13-16.

Note:
We note here the injunction, in the midst of these momentous events, "Behold, I come as a thief," so when this time is reached Christ is going to come quickly. It will be noted also in this account of the last battle, that the war is caused by the elimination of unclean spirits from the dragon, beast and false prophet. These are symbols of the three great false religious systems of the present time which will exist until Jesus comes: Paganism, Catholicism, and Mohammedanism.

6 Following the battle of Armageddon what are the next events in their order?
And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air: and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. And there were voices and thunders and lightnings, and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth . . . . And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found, verses 17 to 20.

Note:
The location of the last battle as given in verse 16 is at a place called "Armageddon." The only place of this name now known in Geography is about fifty miles north and a little west of Jerusalem, Palestine. It is on the plains of Esdralon overlooked by the hills of Megeddo. This has in Bible history been the scene of many bloody battles, and there is here a small stream by that name, and also a village. The name dates far back into the annals of history and is supposed to have originated from the battle fought at this place by the Lord in defense of the Army of Gideon, where only 300 select men won a victory over many thousand of their enemy through the intervention of the power of God.

From various scriptural readings as well as of the fact that the word "Gideon" means "the sword of God," the battle of Armageddon carries with it the significance of the presence of the power of God, with all His angelical hosts, in defense of His people. At this time the power of righteousness will triumph victoriously over the monster sin in all of its varied forms.

7 What does Zechariah say about the location of the last battle of this dispensation?
Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle, Zechariah 14:1, 2.

8 In the next verse of this chapter what does the Lord do at this time?
Then shall the Lord go forth and fight against those nations as when He fought in the days of battle, verse 3.

9 Will Christ come during the time of this great conflict of the nations?
And His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, verse 4, first part of verse.

Note:
When Jesus ascended to the Father, the message of the angels to the apostles was, that this same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go. He ascended from the Mount of Olives, and when He returns this is the place where His feet will stand.

10 How do we know that this prophecy does not refer to the time of Christ's first coming, when He so often frequented the Mount of Olives?
And the Mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west . . . and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south, verse 4, last part.

Note:
It will be seen from the following verse the first part of which is given above, that when the Lord's feet come upon the Mount of Olives, at His second coming, the mount divides asunder, and moves away.

11 Who will be king of the earth following this time?
And the Lord shall be king over all the earth; in that day shall there be one Lord and His name one, verse 9.

12 What does God reveal to us through Ezekiel, regarding the location of the last battle, the nations involved in the struggle, and the victory?
Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, (See lesson on Russia in Bible prophecy). "After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them," Ezekiel 38:2, 8.

Note:
It will be seen that the power above mentioned is to come against the mountains of Israel, which is the Holy Land and includes the mountains of Israel, which is the Holy Land and includes the mountains sacred to the Israelitish nations during their former history.

Notice particularly the statement, that it would be after many days, and in the latter years. Also this power is to come against a people that have been gathered out of many nations, and into a land that has been desolate but is now inhabited. This speaks in plain terms about the Jewish people, who are of the seed of Israel, and who have been scattered among all the nations of the earth, and are now being gathered back to the Holy Land, which had been truly desolated for many centuries. See previous lessons about Jerusalem, and also about the dispersion, and regathering of these people, to the mountains of Israel, where this battle will be fought.

13 What does God say He will do when Gog comes against the land of Israel?
And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, that my fury shall come up in My face. For in My jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken. Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel. So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at My presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. And I will call for a sword against him throughout all My mountains, saith the Lord God, every man's sword shall be against his brother. And I will plead against him with pestilence, and with blood, and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire and brimstone, Ezekiel 38:18 to 22.

14 What will God accomplish by this miracle, when He destroys the armies that come against the people that are gathered at Jerusalem, and the land of Israel?
Thus will I magnify Myself, and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord, verse 23.

The Third angel's Message

The third Angel's Message
Come out of her my people!!!!
Who is the beast of Revelation 17:11, “that was and is not”? Who is the beast of Revelation 13:11, “he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as dragon”? These are warning messages from God concerning the last days. In Matthew 24:1-4, Jesus and his disciples looked upon the buildings of the temple and he told them of the destruction of the temple, the asked him, “What shall be the sign of they coming, and of the end of the world”? Jesus answered, “Take heed that no man deceive you”. Also in verse 11, he told them “many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many” and Paul wrote this same thing to Timothy in I Timothy 4:1, “ in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits (false prophets) and doctrine of devils.”

In answer to their question about the end of the world, in Matthew 24:36, he told them, “ of that day and hour knoweth no ma, not even the angels, but my father only.” However, he said to them in the 44th verse, “be ye also ready” for that hour in Matthew 25:1-3, he speaks of those who are ready and those who are not and verse 10 says, “they that were ready went in with him and the door was shut.” They that were not ready did not get in and so verse 13 tells us to watch for all the signs of things to come to pass. Well, you are ready because of I Thessalonians 5:1-6. If we study our bible as God tells us to in II Timothy 2:15, we know the times and seasons are not asleep, but are watching, then we are ready and doing the job given unto us as in Matthew 24:45-46, giving them meat in due season message.

“Come out of Her My People”
What is the meat in due season message? It is the warning message for the last days in Revelation 14:9-12, “if any man worships the beast and his image, the same shall drink of the wrath of God.” This is God’s word to his saints so we must know about the beast and his image. We know that in Daniel’s prophecy there were four beasts and Daniel 7:17 says, “These great beasts are kings” or kingdoms. The vision Daniel had is in Daniel 7:2-8, “the first was like a lion, a second was like a bear, the third like a leopard and the fourth was dreadful and terrible and had 10 horns.”

Now we have four kingdoms to rule over the earth and because Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had a dream in Daniel 2:31-36 and unto Daniel was given, by the God in heaven, the interpretation found in verses 37-45, we have the first kingdom of Babylon, the second kingdom of Media Persia as we read in Daniel 8:20, the third kingdom of Greece in Daniel 8:21 and the fourth kingdom of Rome as all the history books bear witness. The fifth or last kingdom will be the coming of the Lord to set-up to set-up His rule over the earth and will be the everlasting kingdom shown in Daniel 7:27. Now remember, the fourth beast had 10 horns or kings in Daniel 7:8 and 20, but another horn came up and destroyed three of the original 10, “plucked up by the roots” and this king had eyes of a man and a mouth speaking great things, verse8, and what he would speak was “great things against the most high,” against God; “and would think to change times and laws” or the law of God, verse 25. this power would be the enemy of the saints of god and would war( by false doctrine) with the saints, from the day it came to power by destroying the tree kings until the saints are gathered into the kingdom of Christ at His coming. See verse 21 and 22.

This power or horn which came up was the papacy in Rome. There were ten kingdoms in the latter days of the Roman Empire and three were destroyed when the papacy came to power in verses 23 and 24, and certainly fulfilled verse 25, changing times and laws. It corrupted the Sabbath of God with Sunday worship, changed the birth of Christ to Christmas, changed the only sign given (three days and three nights in the grave) of the death and resurrection of Christ to Easter worship, corrupted the forgiveness of sins by Christ with priests, claimed the Pope as representative of Christ and can do these things, and corrupted the nations with wealth and power.
If we read Revelation 13:1-8, we find references to the same beast, the lion, bear, leopard and the beast with seven heads and ten horns. Also we read, “The dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” (verse3) The entire world worshiped the dragon and the beast (verse7 and 8). This dragon is the devil (see Revelation 20:2). This beast upon his head was the name of blasphemy (Revelation 13:1)
“blasphemed against God, and made war with the saints.” (Verse 6 and 7)
In Revelation 17:3, we read that a woman (church) sat upon this beast with seven heads and ten horns and “was drunken with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus”. (verse6) God spoke of her as “the great whore that sitteth upon many waters (verse1) and verse15 tells us that waters are people and nations.

This woman (church) is also called, “Mystery, Babylon the great, and the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth.” (verse5) these verses refer to the Church of Rome which controls the beast. The beast (verse11) that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven in the prophetic history of the beast under the papacy. The papacy was in control until the year 1798 when the pope was taken prisoner by the French army and his deadly wound was healed in the year 1929, when Italy’s Mussolini restored his dominion over the Vatican City. (See Revelation 13:3)

Now we have the power of the woman (church) which rode the beast, restored, but the Roman Empire is no longer here to enforce here rule. However, the devil who continues to make war with the saints who “keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ (Revelation12:17), will have his way. For in Revelations 13:11-17, we find another beast with “two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon (devil). “He exercised all the power of the first beast” and causeth the world to worship the power whose deadly wound was healed (verse12). He deceiveth the world by wonders and miracles as in verse13 and causes the world to make an image of the first beast as in verse 14. His power will give life to the image.
Notice that all of the beast introduced in prophecy come up out of the sea, or from among the peoples nations and tongues. Rev. 17:15, But this beast comes up out of the earth. Quite a contrast indeed. Now notice in the previous chapter of Revelation, and last verse(Rev. 12:17), that the EARTH helped the woman, after the period of 1260 years persecution by the beast and the dragon. This was the discovery of the new continent of NORTH AMERICA, and the establishment there of a nation, of freedom of worship, the U.S.A.

When life is given to this image, the beast will cause as many as would not worship this power of Satan to be killed (verse15) and no man will be able to buy or sell without the mark of the beast. What is that mark? Revelation14:9, calls it his mark or the devil’s mark for he is the power behind all this. In verse 11, it is called the mark of his name. Revelation13:16-17. Also says the mark of the name and the number of his name, which verse 18 says is 666. The mark we well know, also the name and the number when the time comes, because Revelation 20; 4 shows us the children of God did not receive his mark. God’s servants have the seal of God we read in Revelation7:3, 9 and 14. This seal is the father’s name (Revelation14:1 and Revelation 22:4). This was promised in Revelation 3:12.
This is the third angel’s message that is warning to the whole world. Warning us not to worship the beast and his image and not receive his mark (Revelation 14:9-12), for God hath judged the great whore (Revelation19:2) and when Christ comes as “King of Kings, and lord of lords” verse 16, against the beast, the kings and their armies (verse19), “the beast was taken and with him the false prophet, that wrought miracles before him, with which he had deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image were cast into the lake of fire.” (verse20) But the righteous who had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark lived and reined with Christ a thousand years (Revelation20:4).
Remember Revelation1:1-3, “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein; for the time is at hand.”
